Thinking of Moving to the Erickson Area?
We are a progressive, family-friendly community with year-round services, and we would love to welcome you to the area!
Black Bear Activity in Erickson
We have received several reports of black bears in Erickson. It is very important that our residents do not attract bears to town. Bird feeders, garbage, and barbeques are frequent sources of attraction, and they should be eliminated or carefully managed so that bears do not become habituated to coming into town. Please click here for information on how you can reduce the risk of bears coming into the community.
Important Changes to Residential and Commercial Garbage Collection
Beginning on February 1, 2021, our Public Works staff will be picking up a limit of TWO (2) garbage bags per residential and commercial unit.
As an alternative to bags, a single waste container/bin not more than 120 litres may be used. This container should not weigh more than 50 pounds including garbage it contains.
Any additional bags placed at the curb will not be picked up unless they have a sticker, which can be purchased at the Municipal Office for $2.00 each. If you prefer not to purchase stickers, you have the option to take your excess residential waste to the waste site at no charge.

Major Storm Drainage Upgrade in North Erickson to Commence June 16
Beginning June 16, 2021, equipment and employees from Ken Beatty Construction will be making improvements to the storm drainage system on the north side of Erickson, so that we do not see a repeat of the flooding events that have occurred periodically between Queen Elizabeth Avenue and Centre Avenue, north of Third Street. The work is expected to last approximately one week. There will be disruptions to traffic flow, and we ask that you exercise caution while driving in the area, and keep children away.

Burning Ban Lifted for Municipalities of Clanwilliam-Erickson and Harrison Park
The Municipalities of Harrison Park and Clanwilliam-Erickson are very pleased to finally lift the fire ban for our areas. We would like to THANK all residences, ratepayers, and visitors for their cooperation during the fire ban to keep our area safe. We have all seen on the news the devastation fire has caused to many other Manitoba areas. Even with the fire ban our fire departments were kept busy with other fires. We hope the rains extinguish the many fires in our province that are out of control.
On behalf of the Municipalities of Clanwilliam-Erickson and Harrison Park, along with our local fire departments, please have a safe long weekend.

Main Street Sidewalk Rehabilitation Project
Beginning May 25, 2021, preparations will begin for Phase 1 of our Main Street sidewalk rehabilitation project.
On the south side of Main Street, sidewalk repairs will occur from the west side of the Heritage Co-op grocery store to the east side of the Little Hands Learning Centre. A second phase will include the area in front of the Heritage Co-op grocery store, but the timing of this phase is not yet known.
On the north side of Main Street, sidewalk repairs will occur from the intersection with Centre Avenue, west to join the existing new sidewalk at Northstar Insurance.
We expect that concrete will be poured on June 2nd and 3rd, but this will be subject to weather. Sidewalks will be unusable for 24 hours after concrete is poured.
We ask for your patience during this brief disruption, as we work towards making our community safer and more attractive.
