The Municipality of Clanwilliam-Erickson is located in the Parkland Region of Manitoba, due south of Clear Lake and Riding Mountain National Park. It was established as a legal entity on January 1, 2015, after the amalgamation of the Town of Erickson and Rural Municipality of Clanwilliam.
Natural Beauty, Year-Round Services
Erickson is the commercial and cultural centre of the municipality, located at the intersection of Highway 10 and the Trans-Canada Trail, on the eastern shore of Leda Lake against a scenic backdrop of agricultural fields, rolling hills, and mixed forest stands. Businesses operating year-round in Erickson include a grocery store, gas station, dental clinic, pharmacy, convenience store, law office, accounting office, automotive sales and repair establishments, hair salons, banking institutions, restaurants, a bar/beer vendor, and more! Other services include a full-time doctor and nurse practitioner at the Erickson Health Centre, the Erickson branch of the Parkland Regional Library, Canada Post Office, skating and curling rinks, schools from K to 12, an airport, and Baptist, Roman Catholic, and Lutheran churches.
A Community Founded on Agriculture
Crops grown in the municipality include cereal, oilseed, forage, and specialty crops, while livestock enterprises include dairy farms, cow/calf operations, and feedlots. The town caters to the farming community by providing supplies and inputs, as well as equipment sales and repair facilities.
